Hosting - What the World needs now is YOU!
The AFS World Flags Area is actively recruiting Host families!
Each year, the AFS World Flags Area Team hosts about 80 students from approximately
30 countries. AFS students come seeking to learn a new culture and live like an
American teenager. By hosting an AFS exchange student, not only will you learn
more about another culture, you will learn more about your own family and community!
You will be bringing the world to your own front door.
AFS-USA students are between the ages of 15 and 18. All have maintained good grades
and are eager to learn about U.S. culture, language, and lifestyles. They want to
share everyday experiences by assuming responsibilities and participating as family members.
There are as many different types of AFS host families as there are family situations:
- Two parent households with young children or teenagers
- Single parent families
- Couples or single people who do not have children or have grown children who no longer live at home.
All of these types of families have something to offer an AFS student. The ideal
host family is one that will provide a safe and loving home environment with members
who want to share their lives with a student from another country.
Please contact our hosting coordinator Jennifer Ludowise

if you are interested in hosting. You may also want to fill out the
AFS USA online host family interest form
If you have a specific country, hobby or activity in mind that you would like for your
new son/daughter, talk to us early so that we can try to find a student with similar interests to
fit your family. Most host families are finalized before school lets out and the application process can
take a few weeks. Decide early for best student selection and also an easier time with the schools!
